The distance from the finished floor to the lowest item protrubing from the finished ceiling in a space. In a warehouse the Clear Height is usually limited by structural beams or lighting fixtures, with sprinkler heads generally being above (or sometimes inside) the racking systems. The minimum Clear Height for a Class A warehouse is generally recognized to be 12 meters. In offices with a high finished ceiling lighting may be suspended far below the ceiling to deliver it more effectively and efficiently to workspaces. Such lighting is not usually taken into account when describing the finished height of the space, although it is technically not “Clear”.
