A category of investor where the investor is an organization rather than an individual’s personal wealth and the organization is has legal responsibility for following written governance and other procedures when making investments. Institutional Investors include insurance companies investing their reserve funds, universities and other educational organizations investing their endowments, pension funds of countries, regions, cities, unions, private corporations and other large organizations. Institutional investors normally are long term investors that require sustainable returns and prioritise wealth preservation, rather than seeking the highest possible returns through more speculative investments. They are usually averse to uncertainty and volatility.
